Pont du gard, panorama

Over twenty centuries have passed since the construction of what is one of the best known civil engineering feats in the world.

The well known "Pont du Gard" has been designed by an anonymous architect.

Culminating at a height of 49 metres, the Pont du Gard is the major structure along the Nimes aqueduct.

I took 5 pictures and composed the footage by using the panorama tools.

Unfortunately, the spherical projection is quiet visible :(

Nikon lens serial numbers and production date
photosynthesis.co.nz (author : roland vink)

I've just discovered this site concerning the Nikon lenses and maintains by Roland Vink. It has a cross reference between
  • Serial numbers
  • Specifications
  • Accessories

Furthermore, I am not sure that Nikon itself has a such detailed database about their lenses :)

Clarification about the DNG File format
Digital Negative Specification (DNG) is an ostensibly royalty free raw image file format Adobe Systems announced on September 27, 2004.

Digital Negative was a response to demand for a unifying camera raw file format BUT DNG is not an open standard in that it does not document all the essential information contained in current RAW format files like NEF and CR2 (which also don't document this information).

DNG can be viewed as simply yet another RAW format with undocumented information
- DNG has the added risk that information can be lost during conversion to/from DNG and other RAW formats.
- DNG is a step backwards.
- DNG does not address the missing elements in EXIF.
- DNG is dangerous because people believe they are storing for the future with the format, when nothing could be further from the truth.

Solutions are :
* Public documentation of RAW formats; past, present and future
* Adoption of a universal RAW format
